Sling Hire Terms & Conditions
Hiring from the sling library You hire from the sling library on the basis that you will take good care of the carrier(s) and return the carrier(s) on time in good condition with all accessories supplied, and avoiding damage or permanent staining. If you need to change the day/time of return or would like to renew you will maintain good communication with me. There is a charge for using the sling library in the form of a hire fee, and in order to hire a carrier you must provide photographic identification and proof of address.
Hire fees and length of hire period Two carriers may be borrowed by each family at any one time. The hire fee per carrier is £10 for 2 weeks, then £5 per week. You may renew weekly or fortnightly at the £5 per week rate, or 4 weekly at a rate of £15, for longer term hires with no time limit, as long as payments are up to date. Hire fees are payable by cash or Paypal. Your hire period ends when you return the carrier. A new hire period commences when you hire a different sling or hire again in the future.
Loss and damage We hope that carriers are not lost and are returned without damage or permanent staining beyond normal wear and tear. You will be liable for any costs incurred for extra laundering, repairs or replacement of a carrier or accessories, with each judged on a case by case basis. In the event of any loss or damage you will be liable for any costs, which we will recover from you.
Returning carriers Return your carrier on the day it is due, at a sling library session or at an arranged time. You may return early by arrangement. There are no refunds for early return but you may swap for another carrier. Please inform Carry My Baby in advance if it will require laundering before being hired again, or if there will be missing accessories or if there is damage.
Late returns You may renew your hire and arrange a new return date, but this must be arranged at the latest on the day the carrier is due back. If your hired carrier is not returned on time without any contact your hire will be deemed late and you will be billed for an additional 2 week hire period at £10 with a new due date.
Carriers will be considered lost if 30 days elapse without contact. We will attempt to recover the carrier and you will be invoiced for fees owed plus cost of replacement of the carrier. If necessary we will recover our costs through the Small Claims Court.
Condition of the carrier All carriers are checked before lending to ensure that they are in good condition and working order, and will be inspected on their return. It is the hirer’s responsibility to check over the carrier before every use, checking all buckles, hems and seams ensuring that there are no tears, breaks, cracks or holes. If in doubt then do not use and immediately report it to Carry My Baby.
Safe use of carriers You will be supplied with safety information and instructions for use. It is your responsibility to read and follow safety and use instructions before using a carrier, and to ensure it is used correctly and your baby is safe at all times. Seat your child correctly in the carrier and check knots and buckles and safety of child at regular intervals. If you are unsure or have questions then get in touch with Carry My Baby during your hire period.
Care of Carriers Please take care of the carrier so it can continue to be enjoyed by future users, storing it safely in a bag to avoid damage from zips, contact with pets (including pet hair) or permanent staining. Do not allow your child to eat messy food in the carrier, nor eat or prepare messy food yourself while using it. Carry My Baby prefers to not lend carriers to smoking households. Spot clean when necessary using plain water and leave to dry naturally if the carrier becomes lightly stained from being sucked on or milky deposits. Do not machine wash.
Washing of Carriers Carriers are spot cleaned or laundered when necessary by us, often between each hire, so the carrier is clean for your use. We cannot guarantee that the carrier will be free of all marks or pet hairs. Some carriers will have fade marks over time from baby saliva or milk staining. Do not machine wash a carrier while on hire as we clean carriers regularly according to manufacturer's instructions using eco washing powder. Carriers need to be taken care of in the wash as they can easily become bobbly or damaged if instructions are not followed. Slings with rings can damage your washing machine if precautions are not made. If you feel it necessary that the carrier be cleaned whilst on hire then contact Carry My Baby for advice.
